Mulago Hospital to close over renovation

There is fear that Uganda’s main National Referral Hospita (Mulago) will close its doors to patients in April 2014 when renovations start.

According to sources, the hospital management will stop patients from accessing services at Mulago because it will cause a crisis.

Mulago shall be renovating the entire hospital structure at the same time in April. But the heads of Mulago hospital is not changing the structure of the hospital buildings; the hospital management is just working on painting, drainage and expansion.

The Mulago hospital spokesperson Enock Kusasira says there will be internal shifts. He says for example that when renovations are taking place in the private out-patients section, the patients there will access services from another hospital.
