Teachers are not paid since December

Teachers are still decrying the continuous circus around the presidential pledge of UGX.5Bn to the teachers’ SACO that was made in 2011 which up to now has not come to reality.

The teachers strongly blaming officials from the education ministry for sitting on this money and using it to cover other projects instead of sending it to the teacher’s SACO to help them lift their lives.

They also maintain their stand of not accepting this money to be accessed through ministry proposed banks saying they will rather leave it than following what the ministry wants.

The general secretary UNATU, James Tweheyo also goes ahead to criticize that on going acts by the state minister for primary education, Kamanda Bataringaya of asking teachers to form new SACOS if they are to access this money something they say is out of order since there are existing SACOs.
