Some groups of Ugandans have started faking their HIV/AIDS in order to get money from donors and non government organisations. The habit is so common in eastern Uganda.
In Kamuli district as an example, people there reportedly fake HIV results in order to benefit from programmes funded by Non Governmental Organisations that have been set up for people living with HIV.
There are groups of Ugandans who register their children as orphans. The coordinator of the National Forum for People Living with HIV Networks (NAFOPHANU), Judith Hatoho, says many people claiming to be living with HIV dupe officials of the NGOs to list them as beneficiaries in projects set up for HIV-positive persons.
