president returns from Angola

President Yoweri Museveni has this afternoon returned home from attending a mini summit of the Heads of State and Government of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) that took place in Angola’s Capital Luanda.
The summit was chaired by the Angolan Head of State President Jose Eduardo dos Santos took over the ICGLR leadership in January to discuss issues to do with peace and security in the region and minimize crises and conflicts, and to help normalize the situation in all the countries of the great lakes region
The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) is an inter-governmental organisation of the countries in the African Great Lakes Region. Its establishment was based on the recognition that political instability and conflicts in these countries have a considerable regional dimension and thus require a concerted effort in order to promote sustainable peace and development.
The organization is composed of twelve member states, namely: Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Republic of South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
The President was received on arrival at Entebbe International Airport by the Deputy Head of the Public Service Ms Hilda Musubira. Others at the Airport to receive him included Gen. Sam Turyegenda Commander Air Force, Andrew Kaweesi Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, and Samuel Akena Commissioner of Prisons.
