A few months back Al Shabaab terrorists staged a terror attack on Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi which left Ugandans with a lot of unanswered questions regarding Uganda’s readiness in handling terror attacks scenarios.
But after a specialized anti terrorism training offered to various Uganda’s security agencies in a bid to prevent terrorism, Ugandans are now convinced that their security is ready to give a bloody nose to al Shabaab fighters who want to attack Uganda in revenge for Uganda’s deployment of troops in Mogadishu.
With support from US government and UK, Ugandan soldiers received specialized training in counter terrorism and urban fighting in Masindi.
Ugandan soldiers were trained by Col. Patrick Anderson from US and Col. Peter Right from UK.
The Ugandan soldiers were trained in skills of entering a building attacked by terrorists. They were trained in skills of neutrasing terrorists’ attacks and save hostages in case of a terrorist attack.
Americans and United Kingdom soldiers took Ugandan soldiers in drills of room entry, jumping off tall buildings, combat kidnap and jungle fighting.
