Uganda Police Force changes name

Uganda never ceases to amuse. Now Police has changed name from Uganda Police to Uganda National Police.

But Ugandans, especially opposition politicians, say that the police instead of changing name, the same police should change its brutality on opposition supporters.

Uganda police is widely seen as a ruling party police that president Museveni agents use to grab land from the poor and harass people who demand for regime change.

Col. Kizza Besigye, Uganda’s opposition leader says that the name will not change the bad things done by Uganda police as an institution and its officers.

The Inspector General of Uganda Police Gen. Kale Kayihura said on Friday in Kampala that the Constitution of Uganda will be amended to reflect Police’s change of name.
