Government joined by WHO to find out on strange disease in Moyo

The minister of health Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has told parliament this
afternoon that preliminary investigations show that the ‘strange’
disease that broke out in obongi county in Moyo district could be a
result of pathogens related to a fever that affects the gastro
intestinal system.

While responding to Obongi county mp, Kaps Funagaroo who raised the
matter before parliament, Rugunda said that the samples taken to
different labs in Kampala and Entebbe all indicate to a type of fever.

The minister further said that so far 81 people have been admitted at
Obongi Health,11 and discharged and four confirmed dead.

Mp Fungaroo accused government of not doing much to come to the
rescue of his people saying the health centre doesn’t have the
capacity to host the big number of patients since it was designed to
cater for only fifty.

Rugunda however dismisses the mp’s allegations that his ministry has
not responded saying that a team of medical personnel has been
dispatched by government and has already been joined by the doctors
from World Health Organization and UNICEF
