The voters in Luweero district recently rejected the NRM political organisation in the just concluded woman MP by-elections that were won by Democratic Party’s/opposition joint candidate, Brenda Nabukenya.
The opposition election victory prompted president Museveni who also doubles as the chairman of the rulling NRM party to dismiss election results, claiming that the opposition conived with his appointed electoral commission to rig his NRM party.
However millions of Ugandans wondered whether Ugandan was heading the Malawian political way, where the incumbent president Dr. Hilda Joyce Banda lost the general election to opposition and this gave rise to Peter Mutharika, the younger brother to fallen president Bingu Wamutharika, whom Banda succeded.
But President Hilda Joyce flatly rejected the election results claiming that the opposition parties in Malawi had conived with the Malawian Electoral Commission and tampered with the biometric election machines there by plotting her election defeat.
President Hilda Joyce went ahead to annul the poll outcome and directed the Malawian Electoral Commission to suspend the election results. When President Museveni questioned the election victory of DP in Luweero, many people foresaw President Museveni heading President Hilda Joyce’s direction once defeated by the Ugandan opposition in 2016 elections.
