The deadline for the mass national ID enrollment exercise is August 11thth, 2014. The exercise will be replaced with the continuous ID registration at the Sub County and district level.

Pamela Ankunda the Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesperson says Ugandans abroad can not get registered online because the government wants to register their bio data.

The national ID is going to be machine readable because it will have the bio data of the holder. The same information shall be used in issuing new passports.
