Kampala lord mayor , Elias Lukwago is calling for the quashing of the 2014/15 KCCA financial budget which was presented to parliament saying it is anti pro-people with many new taxes which have never been debated and passed by the council.
Addressing a news conference in Kampala today, Lukwago vehemently bushes the minister for Kampala, Frank Tumwebase and the executive director, Jennifer Musisi for coming up with a non realistic budget with the intent to siphon resources at the expense of the tax payer.
In the proposed ministerial policy statement for this financial year vote 122, the authority is proposing new taxes and fines for road users, market vendors among other groups that do business in Kampala.
The current budget for KCCA stands at UGX.268.7Bn and Lukwago now says its un realistic which has forced him to petition parliament seeking to have the budget quashed and sent back for the political wing to do surgery on it.
Meanwhile, Kawempe mayor, Mubarak Munyagwa and Makindye councilor, Allan Sewanyana advise the executive director and the minister to stop laying to the people of Kampala about the setting up of a railway and cable car network in Kampala as well as engaging councilors in illegal meeting to have this un realistic budget passed.
