The spokesperson of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Felix Kulayigye has indicated that Uganda opposition illegal activities like riots are not among Uganda’s freedoms guaranteed by the law.
Kulayije who was responding to recent remarks by the Chief of Uganda Defence Forces Gen. Aronda Nyakairima says the Uganda constitution grants the Uganda Army with powers “to preserve and defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Uganda”.
The Uganda UPDF chief recently remarked that the Uganda Army will always intervene in quelling political riots when called to do so.
In a press statement seen by Ultimate Media Kulayigye says that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces will always help the Uganda Police Force to quell political riots especially in Uganda Urban areas because they lead to loss of lives, destruction of property and general insecurity in the country.
The UPDF spokesman appealed to Uganda opposition politicians to use peaceful means to solve their political grievances like the Uganda Courts of laws.
Kulayigye says the Uganda Army will continue to monitor Uganda political situation and quell political violence when called to do so but adds, that the Uganda Army will not promise to crush the opposition because Uganda constitution provides for their existence.
The Uganda Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Leader Dr. Kiiza Besigye was recently beaten by Uganda infamous Kiboko Squad for protesting against Uganda’s bad electoral laws.
