mps approve KCCA budget

Parliament has approved the presidential affairs committee report on
the proposed budget estimates for KCCA rejecting a request by Masaka
municipality mp Mathias Mpuga to halt the passing of the budget on
claims that the budget proposals of the authority were illegally done.

Following a debate which dragged on for more than four hours on the
minority report presented by Mpuga , the Deputy speaker of parliament
put a question to whether KCCA budget should not be passed but
surprisingly majority of 127 members who were present said no meaning
that they supported the passing of the budget.

The report also gives KCCA a go ahead to procure USAFI market contrary
to Mbuga , who pointed out that the land on which the market was
located had ownership problems.

Parliament will later approve the overall 240 BILLION budget for KCCA
for the financial year 2014/2015.
