Police in Lugazi is holding in custody five male adult suspects who were arrested on Tuesday after they were found vandalizing angle bars from UETCL Bujagali-Kawanda line that runs through the Lugazi sugar plantations.
Speaking to the regional police commander for Sezibwa region, ACP. Mubangizi Ben, he reveals that a concerned citizen tipped off police on the crime which led the force to arrest the criminals.
Among the arrested include, Lubega Hassan (25years) a resident of Kisenyi Kampala, Musisi Moses (Buikwe) Sebuliba Ronald (Lugazi) Mugisha Umar (Geregere) and Kase Enock (Buikwe) who are facing charges of Vandalizing public property, malicious damage among other preferred charges.
However, the principal security officer for UETCL, Wakabi Bhaali Gregory confirms that the angle lines stolen by the five suspects go for a tune of UGX.20M adding that such acts have heavily cost the company as most of the time the company has to replace stole parts as well as losing power as communities can not access power at time of repairing
