Ministry of Health seeks for Ushs 450 billion to carry out an integrated house to house testing for HIV and Aids, Malaria and hepatitis B in the whole Country to establish how many people have these sicknesses.The campaign will target those people aged 14 years and above as well as the Children at risk to enable Government plan accordingly.
The Minister of Health Dr. Erioda Tumwesigye while appearing before the Committee of Health said government has been facing a lot of challenges in planning for people leaving with HIV and other related diseases because it lacks data on the exact number of people affected by these diseases.
He said as soon as the funds are availed the campaign will role throughout the Country house to house like it has been done in Immunization which he said has been a success.
Erioda further disclosed that Hepatitis B has also become a very big problem saying close to 3.5 million Ugandans are affected hence calling for concerted effort to eradicate it form the Country.
