The vice chairperson of the Pope visit preparation committee who is also the arch bishop of Kampala, His grace Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, revealed that they expect Pope Francis to be in Uganda from 27th -29th of November as he will join the nation in marking the golden jubilee of the Uganda martyrs.
Addressing a press conference at Namugongo today, Lwanga says as they prepare to receive the pope, they are redeveloping the Namugongo shrines and Munyonyo at a cost of over UGX. 93.5BN with the money expected to be raised from fundraising drives. The redevelopment will see the Namugongo church rehabilitated and the whole area changed and it is upon this that the committee confirms sealing off the area till November.
Currently government has supported the event with only UGX.5BN.
This is the third pope to pay a visit to Uganda.
