The Eastern region youth MP Peter Ogwang has appealed to parliament to increase on the number of youth representatives in parliament from 5 to 23. Ogwang made the appeal while appearing before parliamentary committee on legal affairs to give views on parliamentary elections amendment bill 2015.
He says that youth, women ,PWDs and Army MPS are all in parliament on affirmative action adding that when districts were increased, it created automatic sits for women MPs but the youth which have 75% ofthe population remained with the same representation. He says the number of youth MPs should be increased because youth MPs
have been getting a lot of demands from the youths. He proposed that each sub-region should have a youth MP to enable the young people to move their Agenda forward.
Ogwang notes that more youth need to be in politics in places like parliament to mentor them for future leadership.
