Opposition MPs condemn the action by the police authorities to deploy police officers at hospitals in order to block presidential candidates from accessing them. The opposition chief whip who is also Dokolo woman MP Cecilia Ogwal says this is abuse of state machinery, because where they are being deployed there is no
insecurity. Bushenyi municipality MP Odo Tayebwa says that the action to deploy police at hospitals shows a sign of fear that the presidential candidates will expose the state of the health facilities.
The criticism comes a day after Police deployed heavily at Kyenjojo hospital yesterday when the forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye was campaigning in the area. Four days ago independent Presidential candidate Amama mbabazi was also blocked by police from accessing Kabale hospital.
Also in Abim distrct, Karamoja sub-region , three nurses, Paska Akello, Santina Adong and Immaculate Owili, who were present when Dr. Kiiza Besigye visited the hospital were suspended by the Abim district chief administrative officer Moses Kaziba Nandhala asking them to explain why they welcomed Dr Besigye there.
