The electoral commission has again come out to explain itself on why it restricted candidates from holding campaigns or even touring public places like, hospitals, markets and schools. The commission’s secretary, Sam Rwakojo states that this has been done not to limit certain candidates and give way for others but this has been done to protect the clients in these places mentioning patients, traders, students and pupils from the campaign spill over.
He further maintains that these places will not be open to any candidate for any kind of activity. Ever since the commission issued the directive, members of the general public including the academia, CSOs, politicians have criticized the commission branding it not being independent in this process.
