Opposition MP Paul Mwiru who lost in recently parliamentary elections in Jinja east municipality says he is worried that their petitions will not be heard fairly if handled by the judges who were appointed by president Museveni a few days to elections. Mwiru told journalists at parliament that some of the judges will have a challenge to deliver justice since they think that their appointment was not on merit but a favor by the president.
The lawmaker, also a lawyer by profession, suggests that the appointment of judges be left to the judicial service commission in order to have an independent judiciary. The out-going MP Kumi County MP Patrick Amuriate Oboi says the judges will never rule against the appointing authority in Uganda if the president is still in power.
