Persons with disability have rapped at their representatives in parliament accusing them of being money minded instead of focusing on their issues. Through their umbrella association Uganda National Action On Physical disability, they say their representatives have become a disgrace for failure to put their issues at forefront including minority marginalization, increased funding, rights abuse, among others as the association chairman Arthur Brick Senior explainsed.
In the same vain the association executive director Mukasa Apolo says their PMs are frustrating their efforts in fighting for the rights of PWDS. They were addressing journalists at hotel Africana and discussed the delayed implementation of the building and construction act that was passed in 2013 but today still lies in shelves.
The act gives guidance on construction frameworks that are user friendly to PWDS being accessible and inclusive. They have urged the works ministry to apply this act so as to save them from the challenges they face accessing these buildings.
