The Minister for Trade and Tourism Kahinda Otafire has urged women in Uganda to embrace co-operatives as they are a tool that can foster women’s quick progress in enterprise development.
Ottafire has told Journalists at Parliament that enterprises provide an equitable form of enterprise development for both urban and rural areas.
He says enterprises are advantageous to women because cooperatives at community level provide the right conditions for improving the livelihoods of women.
Ottafire says they also empower women in the community through cooperative education and training.
This comes as back up message hardly two days after the celebration on the International Cooperative Day under the theme “Cooperative Enterprises Empower Women”
