Christopher Kibazanga State Minister for Agriculture
State Minister for Agriculture, Christopher Kibazanga, has retaliated a warning to coffee farmers saying government is more than ready to continue closing coffee factories that continue to produce and deal in poor quality coffee.
Kibazanga while speaking at the coffee meeting in Kampala recently said that this action is geared towards giving the country a new face as Africa’s best coffee growing and producing country.
“It is so sad to state that the country still exports raw coffee to the market which should have stopped way back to pave way for the country to start adding value onto the product and later export it to the global markets,” said Kibazanga.
Buganda Minister for Investment, Robert Wagwa Nsibirwa, who is also the vice chairman organizing committee of the conference says the upcoming 16th Africa fine coffee conference will give Uganda coffee growers and exporters millage at global market as the country will still display its best coffee products for the international exhibitors.
He also added that the new coffee bill government is pushing to be enacted into law will assist in elimination bad practices of coffee farmers who harvest poor quality coffee.
