Police have embarked on a community policing programme in Kampala and other parts of the country in a bid to curb the escalating crime in Uganda.

The programme follows bomb blasts in Kampala last weekend that left over 80 people dead and hundreds admitted in hospitals with fatal wounds.

It also follows cases of people strangling their colleagues over land, women, men, jobs and money among others.

So many people in Uganda in the recent past have sacrificed children and adults and secretly buried their bodies. Police records indicate that Buganda region has rising cases of murder which police blames on drunkenness, love for money, jealousy and land disputes.

The Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura says police calls everyone to join community policing programmes.
