The President of opposition Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC), Dr. Olara Otunnu has mourned dead Buganda kingdom queen, Lady Damali Kisosonkole, widow of the first President of Uganda, late Sir Edward Muteesa II.
Otunnu says Uganda has lost an educationist, councilor, person of good values and a loving mother. Late Kisosonkole is remembered for having championed the fight against polio in the late 1990s.
Otunnu says Kisosonkole has been mobilizing mothers to immunize their children against killer diseases like polio up to the time she met her death.
Late Damali Kisosomkole was a sister to the mother of the current king of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. Otunnu says the royal family, all political parties in Uganda and all Ugandans have lost an important person. Late Kisosonkole was born in September 1930 to the late Christopher Kisosonkole. She died last Monday in a Kampala hospital.
