Paul Biya, Cameroon’s president since 1982 has won the 2018 presidential seat to rule the country for a seventh.
The Constitutional Council announced that Biya attained a mudslide victory with 71.3% of the total vote cast on October 7.
According to Clement Atangana, the Constitutional Council head, opposition candidate, Maurice Kamto got only 14.2 percent of the vote.
International Crisis Group think tank reported a low voting turn out in the two english speaking regions where anti- government forces had blossomed.
AFP journalists reported tight security around the main post office in the capital Yaounde after calls on social media for a protest rally against the results.
