The Electoral Commission has asked all political parties in Uganda including those on opposition to pay money to access the national voters register.
The chairperson of the commission, Badru Kiggundu has told journalists in Kampala today that political parties will have to pay four million shillings to get permission to print out copies of the National voters register.
The announcement has come at a time when members of the opposition parties especially Forum for Democratic Change and the Democratic Party are pressurizing the commission to give them the list of voters ahead of the 2011 elections.
The Legal Advisor of the Democratic Party, Fred Mukasa Mbidde threatens to sue the commission if the copies of national voters are not issued out for free.
