The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof. Venansious Baryamureeba has accused the police of being compromised in handling the conflict surrounding the university land in Katanga, a Kampala slum.

Makerere University is fighting with the residents of Katanga for 10 acres of land, over which it claims to have ownership.

The residents however dragged the Vice Chancellor to Court last week, accusing him personally of encroaching on their land located in Katanga.

Prof. Baryamureeba however says the case should have been handled more professionally by the police and denies any wrongdoing.
