European marketing Research Center organized AgriBusiness Forum 2010 to take place in Uganda

Uganda has been selected to host the AgriBusiness Forum 2010 which will take place at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort from 3-6 October.

The Agribuisness Forum is organised by the Brussels-based nonprofit organisation EMRC (European marketing Research Center) in partnership with the Government of Uganda.

A statement from the organizers indicates that Uganda President Yoweri Museveni will open the discussion about the role of Africa in turning the challenge of food security to a business opportunity and the importance of private and public partnerships on October 4th.

According to the statement, the AgriBusiness Forum 2010 will gather more than 400 public and private sector representatives, entrepreneurs, micro-finance institutions, researchers, bankers, farmer organisations, NGOs, project developers and experts to discuss the global concern of Food Security.

Uganda was chosen to host the forum in December 2009 during the previous Agribusiness forum. Taking place immediately following the UN General Assembly in Spet, the AgriBusiness Forum 2010 will continue discussion about food Security for Africa and beyond.

“Pivotal partnership innovation- public /private ,south/south, north/south , within and between Africa’s sub-region , links in the agriculture value-chain –is a core discussion topic. Common to the diverse forum participants is the interest in transitioning the emphasis from aid to investment in agriculture Markets infrastructure and finance, for every challenge there is an opportunity,” the statement adds.

The delegates at the AgriBusiness Forum 2010 will examine the business opportunities presented by the African continent, addressing topics like the role of the private sector in improving access to food and increasing sustainable agricultural productivity, pre and post-harvest intervention, commodities, inputs and private sector growth in Africa.

“Dedicated business-to-business sessions and business networking events will enable the delegates to meet and find synergies for business ideas and projects, promoting partnership-building,” the organizers say in the statement.
The forum is being organized by Uganda’s Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry
