The Inspector General of Police Maj. General Kale Kayihura has said he is pleased by the way the media has been reporting on the developments that followed the bomb blasts that hit the country on July 11 2010.
The bomb blasts that left at least 76 people dead and over 50 injured left the country not only in a state of shock but also high security alertness as various security organs in the country led by the Uganda Police swung into action to investigate the cause of the attacks and assisted by external security organs like FBI.
While speaking to Journalists in Kampala Kayihura has said he is pleased that Media did not speculatively report about the investigation which has assisted the Police in keeping its case on the terrorists intact and good since it was not prejudiced by the media reports.
He however has quickly added that though on the whole the media did a good job however there were still some media houses that failed to do the job of reporting on this investigation as well as they should have been.
He has also thanked the Joint Anti Terrorism Task Force and the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence for helping the police successfully carry out these investigations.
“The successes we have achieved thus far in the investigations have been through the joints efforts of the various security services of Uganda like JATT and the CMI.” Kayihura said
