DP expresses concern about violence in NRM primaries

The Democratic Party has expressed its concern again about the level of violence in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries. The Deputy Spokesperson of DP, Kenneth Kakande says their party calls for peace and calm in the country as political parties choose their election flag bearers.

Sam Kutesa, Uganda's Foreign Affairs Minister

He was speaking to Ultimate Media in a phone interview today morning. Kakande says the major culprits of violence are the usual NRM top cadres, Sam Kutesa (Foreign Affairs Minister) and the MP for Lwemiyaga, Theodre Sekikubo among others. Kakande says the victims of NRM election violence are the innocent Ugandans who suffer at the hands of NRM big elephants as they struggle for domineer.

The Deputy Spokesperson says DP is disturbed that these NRM cadre fights are not fist fights but lethal weapon including guns, placing the lives of Ugandans in danger as NRM cadres settle their scores.

Kakande says police is around to keep law and order but it is now helpless and it has been over powered resorting to civil litigation in courts against NRM stalwarts which cases have led to nowhere.

DP is concerned that if this is the level of violence in NRM primaries, what will happen in 2011 general elections when the ruling government party tussles it out with other parties.
