The Electoral Commission has today handed over soft copies of the national voters registers to political parties in Uganda.
The Chairperson of the Commission, Eng. Badru Kigong each registered political party received two CDs containing names of registered voters from Abim to Kiryandongo and voters names from the districts of Kisoro.
The electoral commission had earlier announced that the provisional register had 22.9 million voters.
The electoral commission chairperson Hajj Badru Kigundu says they have provided with the stakeholders updated ahead of next year’s general elections.
Meanwhile the electoral commission has cleared Opekot County Mp Francis Kiyonga for the nomination. Kiyonga nomination had earlier been blocked by a group of people who had petitioned claiming Kiyonga was still a serving army officer in the UPDF.
According to the Eng. Badru Kigindu says the Electoral Commission have carried out investigation and found out Kiyonga had no reason to fail him nominated.
