The presidential candidate for Democratic Party Norbert Mao was this morning involved in a car accident and he survived with minor injuries.
The accident occurred along Masindi-Hoima road in Buhanika trading centre just 4 kilomentres to Hoima town as he was travelling to Kibaale district where he was set to address public rallies on his campaign trail.
DP’s western campaign coordinator Herbert Rutagula who was travelling with Norbert Mao says the official vehicle registration number UAN 560E which Mao was travelling in overturned at Buhanika trading centre in Hoima district.
He says Mao and all other occupants escaped with minor injuries and were taken to Kyakapeya health centre before proceeding with the journey.
Addressing a crowd at Kibaale later in the day, Mao promised to provide better services to all Ugandans irrespective of their tribe or religion.
Mao accused President Museveni of using divide and rule policy in Kibale, which he says has precipitated the conflicts between the indigenous Banyoro and immigrant Bakiga over political position and land.
