The registered business men and women in the Park Yard Market picked sticks to beat up the street vendors saying they have taken over their customers and they do not pay any tax and rent.

The strike attracted the attention of the police in command of Commander Siraje Bakaleke and other security organs that also started running battles with the strikers.

Some members in the strike sustained injuries and others lost their merchandize as they ran for their dear lives.

Some business owners who talked to this reporter said that government and Kampala authorities have not helped them from the  street vendors who they say operate illegally.

Last week, the City Clerk ordered the Kampala Central authorities to have a special place to reallocate the street vendors but the Kampala authorities are yet to respond.
