The President of Uganda is set to take a break from his campaign trail to travel to south Africa for bilateral discussion with his South Africa counterpart, Jacob Zuma.
Museveni will be on a State visit in South Africa on Friday January 21 2011.
A statement from the South Africa President’s office indicates that the visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen relations that exist between the two countries.
The statement from the Department of International Relation and Cooperation says the two presidents will review progress on key areas of bilateral cooperation, which, among others, include agriculture, trade and investment, public works and infrastructural development, water and environmental affairs, energy, and social development.
Zuma and Museveni will also “exchange views” on issues affecting the continent and the world, including political developments pertaining to the East Africa region, especially the recent Sudan Referendum,.
South Africa is among the top five sources of foreign direct investment in Uganda with close to 50 South African companies operating in the East African country.
Museveni who is campaigning for his fourth term as elected President of Uganda on Wednesday begun his campaigns in Buganda regions with rallies in Mityana and Mubende districts. Uganda will on February 18th hold Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
