PhD and Research Masters Scholarships in Carbon Capture and Storage at UNSW, Australia

School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW, Australia.
Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC)

The School of Chemical Engineering and School of Petroleum Engineering at the University of New South Wales has a significant research group headed by Prof. Dianne Wiley investigating the economics of capturing CO2 from industrial sources and injecting it into underground reservoirs in Australia. This research is part of the work of the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (“CO2CRC”), which is a joint industry / Australian Government sponsored programme that brings together the work of research institutions, Government agencies and private companies in Australia and overseas.

The project team is seeking PhD or Masters by Research candidates to join our research team. Your role will be to:

  • Develop methods and frameworks for assessing the capture of CO2 from different large- scale stationary emission sources using different capture technologies. Identify options for optimising the CCS (carbon capture and storage) network chain.
  • Contribute to the communication of research outcomes through papers, seminars and conference presentations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in organisations linked to the CO2CRC.

A stipend of $27,222 per annum (tax free) will be provided for three years. Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and foreign nationals may apply for this scholarship.
