University of Queensland International Undergraduate Scholarships 2011

The University of Queensland isa committed to enabling all students, regardless of background or financial circumstances, to realise their full potential. That is why we offer a wide range of scholarships to help students fund their tertiary education. The scholarships are made possible with the generous support of our donors, external agencies and industry providers.

Scholarships at UQ are awarded for academic excellence, to assist students wishing to undertake research, to provide support for students experiencing financial hardship, to assist elite athletes and to help defray costs associated with overseas study. Details:

UQ International offers a limited number of scholarship opportunities for outstanding international students intending to study in an undergraduate program at The University of Queensland (UQ). To be eligible for a UQ International scholarship, you must be a newly commencing international student and able to study in Australia on a student visa.

Eligibility:

  1. Must have a score that equates to a Queensland Tertiary Education rank of 96. See below for international equivalencies table.
  2. Must not be recipients of another scholarship
  3. Must be applying for the full program – not an articulation or requesting credit (other than the IB credit)
  4. Must have a full unconditional offer
  5. The application must be complete including a personal statement
  6. Excludes quota programs*

* Quota programs include Oral Health, Dental Science, Physiotherapy, Occupational Health and Safety Science, Medicine/Surgery, Arts and Medicine/Surgery dual, Health Sciences and Medicine/Surgery dual, Science and Medicine/Surgery dual, Nursing and Midwifery dual, Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Science. Please note this list may not be exhaustive.

Conditions:

The scholarship is a one-off reduction in your commencing tuition fees to the value of AUD$6000. The scholarships are available for international students who have completed senior high school overseas equivalent to Queensland Year 12 (eg. GCE A Levels, International Baccalaureate, etc).

The scholarship is not available to students who have already commenced a postsecondary qualification or who are already studying in Australia.

The successful applicants must be classed as an international student in Australia (Australian permanent residents and Australian citizens are not eligible). The successful application must commence study in the Semester indicated in the offer letter. The scholarship is intended for newly commencing students and is not available for students who have already commenced in studies at The University of Queensland.

Obligations of Students:

  • Students are expected to fulfil all requirements associated with their student visas.
  • Students shall diligently and to the best of their ability apply themselves to the successful completion of their degree.
  • Students are required to conform to University regulations (including disciplinary provisions).
  • Notification in writing to the Director, UQ International, is required if the student:
    • wishes to defer, transfer, or withdraw from the approved program
    • wishes to apply for an extension

Health Insurance:

Students are required to pay for their own medical insurance through the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) scheme. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a compulsory requirement of your student visa. The University has appointed Worldcare Assist as the preferred provider for OSHC.
