Betty Nambooze Bakireke her motion she wants to introduce on the floor of Parliament a private members bill regulating the manufacture, Cap 86 and the Liquor Act, Cap 93 are outdated and no longer fit for purpose, Members of Parliament have failed to agree on whether to grant Mukono Municipality MP, Moses Kasibante and Aruu County MP, Nambooze said regulating alcohol consumption in the country is a matter of urgency noting that the current laws Enguuli (manufacture and licensing) Act, Nambooze’s request to table the bill titled “The Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill 2016” met stiff resistance from a cross section of MPs including; MP for West Budama, Odonga Otto who all said the bill is not needed because it seeks to regulate those who manufacture alcohol which may affect our GDP., Richard Othieno Okoth, Rubaga North MP, sale and consumption of alcohol
